AB MAKEUP ARTISTRY

Not only has she done work for the Miss Guinee and Miss Africa USA pageants but she is also the proud owner of Amina B. Makeup Artistry, LLC.  Aminata Bash- Taqi is a full time student and self taught makeup artist who decided to pursue her passion after realizing how much she enjoyed beautifying the everyday woman.   She describes her makeup style as clean and fresh and truly believes that less is more in terms of the application of makeup. All in all, she aspires to not only become a psychiatrist, but a business woman and world-renowned makeup artist as well.

1.  How did your passion for makeup come about?

AB: I have always been a creative person and one with an interest in makeup over the years.  As I was watching YouTube videos of several mua's, I said to myself, "This is cool!  Man, I want to do this." I desire to see this passion and gifting of mine reach new heights and new atmospheres.  I definitely do not want to be your average MUA but an extraordinary one!

2.  What is an unforgettable moment that you as the founder of AB Makeup Artistry have experienced?

AB:  It was recently at the Sierra Leone Ball where I had the opportunity to display my talent by doing the make up of a well known woman in the Sierre Leonean community.  It was a great opportunity to connect and network with others that were present at the ball.

3.  What distinguishes you from the rest of the MUA's?

AB: I believe that less is more.  Plenty of makeup artists are into overly conturing faces and dramatically changing the faces of their clients.  When you flip through pages of several magzines, you do not see the overusage of cosmetics.  The principle of less usage is one that I believe has led me to stand out from the rest of the pack.

4.  Is there any skin regimen that you can provide for  frequent makeup users concerned with preserving their natural beauty?

AB:  I would reccomend daily moisturizing, cleansing, and toning of the skin.  For my daily moisturizer, I use Nivea which is an excellent mositurizing cream. Drinking alot of water is also a great way of naturally mositurizing the skin. Keeping with the regimen,  a great cleansing product that I use is Neutrogena Oil Free.  It cleans out my pores while leaving my skin smooth and supple.  Lastly with exfoliation, I use Garnier Expert Exfoiliator.  A definite big no no for ladies is sleeping with makeup on and yes I admit, I have been guilty of doing this at times; it will clog up your pores and increase the likelihood of pimples.  The last piece of advice I would like to give is to know which products work best for your skin.

5.  Prior to the question asked, how would you encourage those who use cosmetics as crutches because they view their natural beauty as "ugly'?

AB:  Let's be honest, plenty of ladies compare themselves with what they see on instagram, twitter, facebook, and even with celebrities.  Low self-esteem is a chronic problem due to women constantly comparing themselves with others, underestimating their value, and not accepting who they are.  I used to be guilty of that myself; but in the end I had to accept who I was and love who God had created me to be. Ladies, I want you to know that God has created you for a purpose that no one else can fulfill and that you are more than your looks. Your identity is not in your physical attirbutes but in who you were created to be!
